As a Black woman I'm on the fence about wokeness because I've sadly found that it's either:
1. Performative activism
2. Selective solidarity
3. Temporary
Because it's been my experience that when there is an option to choose real change and discomfort versus the power and privilege of whiteness - like getting attention, money and status for doing ordinary or simply the right thing. I've yet to meet a person who didn't hit the snooze button on being woke and returned to the comfort of privilege.
Like Chris Rock said, there isn't a white [person] who would trade places being [a Black person]...
Everybody loves our swag, don't want the struggle.
